Sweet Taylor is Four Months!

Sweet Taylor had his 4 month check up this AM, and yes, it was late. He turned four months back on the 3rd...so here are his stats!

Head: 40 cm ~ 47%

He is totally healthy and we are totally grateful to the Lord! He loves pretty much everyone he meets, and always has a smile for them. He loves to put his hands in his mouth and makes sure he does the second he's tickled-which is most effective under his chin. I am pretty sure Taylor and Daddy already have a special bond-very sweet. What a complete blessing.

2 Sweet Months...

What a couple of months we have had. The sweetest little man entered this home on April 3rd, and he has captured our hearts! Taylor has gifted us with his smile, and even a few coos here and there. His sisters are head~over~heels in love with him, as are his daddy and I. He is such a "good" baby, and we could not be more thankful to be his family. God is so good!

Here are his stats: Over 10 lbs! So great-he has doubled his birth weight in his eight weeks! No small miracle for a Powell....his head is in the 50th percentile. Typical for a Powell...height is in the 25th.

He had his checkup yesterday, and they wanted to give him 5 shots-not to mention the oral vaccination. I couldn't believe it when the nurse walked in with a tray full of needles. My gut immediately twisted around itself, and I told them I wasn't comfortable with so many vaccinations at one time. So, now we get to go back in a month and get 2 of them then. So worth it.

Has this happened to any of you? Have you ever refused/postponed a vaccination for your child?

I would love to hear from you if you have been in this situation, or if not, your opinion because this was a difficult decision for me. Thanks!

I don't know how to tell you this, so I'm just going to say it.

So, I got another call from the school nurse yesterday. I say another, because it is just the latest of about 7 calls from the school nurse since we started Kindergarten last year. Let's just say Bethany is accident-prone. Usually she falls down, gets pushed-your average accident. She has come home with holes in the knees of her pants at least 3X this year alone. BUT, yesterday, she upped the ante. This was no average accident. I don't know how to tell you this, so I'm just going to say it. She accidentally stuck her pencil into her forearm. The inside of her delicate little ivory forearm. Bethany dropped her freshly sharpened pencil on the floor, and when she bent over to pick it up, she somehow fell on it(thank you Lord that it was just her arm!). She handled it a lot better than I would have-so brave! Matt picked her up from school, took her to the Rediclinic inside HEB, and they assured him she didn't need a stitch. I was surprised, because the pencil went in about a half inch. She is back at school today so far....never a dull moment. I am positive that God protects that child daily!

I love my OB/GYN!

I love my OB/GYN!  Who can really say that?  I truly don't even dread that annual visit-honest!   Her name is Dr. Kristin Schmidt, and she practices with the Premier OB/GYN Group of West Houston.  I am about to have my 3rd little pumpkin, and she has been my Doc through all three.  She is also the Doc of many of my friends-and we all think that she likes us best!  It is like your girlfriend walks in the room to catch up.  She lives out here in Katy, and has an office at the new Katy Memorial Hermann Hospital, as well as Memorial Hermann Memorial City.  Her nurse Jill is fantastic-also a really sweet gal.  I have been able to call the office about random issues, and have actually been greeted by a real person on the other end of the line.  I really feel blessed to have this Doctor-especially for the special Dr. visits in life!

Love My Pediatrician!

My little Avery had her 9 month check up yesterday. Everything went great-she is perfect just as we suspected! The best part for me was no shots this time! I was so relieved until I realized that she would be tested for anemia. It is just so hard to hear that “mommy it hurts” cry. Thank goodness I don’t hear it very often. For all of you “new to Katy” mommies out there-I love my Pediatrician, Dr. Cade Nelms. He has been in Katy since the beginning of time, and has treated both of my daughters. Many of our friends use him as well, and I have never heard a complaint. His staff is totally professional and sweet as can be. It is like going to Grandpa’s house to get your checkup. He is located out here in Katy at the St. Christus Professional Building, at the corner of Fry Road and Kingsland Blvd.
